Pulsar

Pulsar

Jagged rocks, mazes of coral, and harsh wind streams have made getting to Pulsar a challenge for the Rien Empire. The first explorer to actually make the trip and land in Pulsar was Vinkies Slurmorie. He took ten ships with him across the sea and only two made it to Pulsar. That was in the one thousand and six hundredth year of the Rien Rule (1600RR). Since then Pulsar has been the eternal downfall of Rien Emperors who seek to harvest the wealth of resources. Shelledrock on the other hand launched the Shimmington Canal project in 1800RR and carved a passage through the rough coral reefs and shallow sandbars. The Shimmington Canal gave Shelledrock a direct route to the resource rich continent and allowed them to establish colonies.
Fifty Seven hundred years later (7543RR) Shelledrock still only has a few colonies on Pulsar and Rienbect has very little influence over the continent. Treaties and magical advances have allowed Rienbect access to the rich continent but Shelledrock controls that access and regulates the trade with Rienbect.
Pulsar is a dense tropical land filled with dinosaurs, dragons, and dire beasts that dwarf their cousins from other lands. The canopy of trees reaches into the clouds in some places and the wildlife is so dense and aggressive it is nearly impossible for overland travel. Mosquitos the size of wagons swarm the hot and humid underbrush and the food chain is escalated by magical beasts who prey relentlessly.
The native biped demi humans have shown little interest to representatives of Shelledrock, who has enslaved most of them or Rienbect, who has not freed them. There are two divisions of the natives. The Pulsars, originally named after the continent, are translucent devils who worship pagan gods and kill any who enter their territory. The other group of natives are scavengers, mostly gnomes and the cat people known as Feliuspedi, common name Felius. There are some humans, dwarves and various half breeds among the scavengers as well. All of the scavengers, most of which have been enslaved, and the Shelledrock colonies are in an area known by the locals as the Vasti Werntuim Celestuli Morten. Which translated into the Dead Dragon God.
The Vasti, for short, is an old carcass of an ancient dragon which spans more than one hundred miles along the north west side of the continent. During the course of the last six thousand years the bones have not rotted one bit. Moreover the dire predators do not enter the Vasti. That being said there are still diseases, floods, and normal political corruption that have stunted the expansion of colonies in the Vasti. Currently there are four major colonies in the Vasti. The Pulsar race has established many great cities in the thick jungles and grand mountain ranges that litter the land outside the Vasti. They too do not enter the Vasti.
The dire predators pale in comparison to the dire resources which can be harvested. Occasionally a diamond the size of an elephant will be discovered or crimson gold will be unearthed. These attractions keep a steady stream of speculators willing to gamble their lives for a chance to strike it rich. Between the dragons and the dire beasts most never return with riches or their lives. Yet as long as there are riches to be found Rienbect will strive to conquer the land and reap the rewards of conquest.
